HEAD Speed series
HEAD is a name worth praising for sports goods and tennis racquets. They have been working nonstop for years to bring change in their domain. HEAD has given many series of tennis racquets that include Instinct, Extreme, Radical, Gravity, Prestige and many others.
HEAD Speed Series is solely made for players looking for power and control. It was developed for a wide range of players, so there is no restriction for beginners. Thanks to Novak Djokovic, this series was made popular.
He needs no introduction. However, it gave the HEAD Speed Series the green light. It became extremely popular because players found something that made them win their games. Speed series is best when it comes to maintaining stability.
While exerting power, one often struggles with control. However, the Speed series allow you to exert as much power as you want while not worrying about the control. I have been doing playtests on the HEAD Speed series for a few days now.
And I have to say that these racquets never compromise on neither control nor power. Their slightly larger head size allows you a great spin with a boost in power.
Following are the racquets in the HEAD Speed series:
- HEAD Speed Pro
- HEAD Speed MP
- HEAD Speed MPL
- HEAD Speed Team
- HEAD Speed Team L
Before starting with the Speed series, Let us look into the technologies that HEAD has used in this series.
Technologies
Like I always say, we live in a world where nothing is ordinary. Tennis has evolved so much with time that we can’t bring out the players’ true potential without innovative technologies and modified equipment.
HEAD decided to provide a racquet that could bear and channel maximum power while adding a boost to assist the player. They ensured that players didn’t have to struggle with control while exerting power and giving their best.
I must say that HEAD went to extreme lengths and used every single tech out there to bring the best of the series if you want to try a specific series from HEAD and are confused about it. Then I would recommend you to go with HEAD Speed Series first. You will have results far beyond your expectations.
So, the following are the technologies that HEAD has used:
- Speed Beam
- Directional Drilling
- Speed Pattern
- Graphene Inside
- Auxetic
- Power Grommets
Speed Beam:
HEAD named the new series Speed series because they made the racquets fast with impressive technologies. They focused on fast and strong players. They used an aerodynamic cross-section of the speed beam to bring speed to the racquet beam and increase power and swings.
It resulted in what HEAD was trying to achieve. Players got swinging speed and added power. They didn’t have to lose balance as well.
Directional Drilling:
As its names suggest, they used Directional Drilling to increase the sweet spot and power. It helps with giving a high impact feel.
Speed Pattern:
HEAD decided to use a special speed string pattern. It was done to ensure that players get a perfect combination of power and control.
Graphene Inside:
Graphene has been used as a key element in a lot of racquets. It helps strengthen the frame if you use it in perfect places. When focusing on power and control, stability is a must. To increase stability, HEAD uses Graphene, and it optimizes the flow of energy from racquet to ball.
Auxetic:
It is by far the smartest technology ever used in constructing racquets. Auxetic structures or materials have this special ability to become thick or expand when you apply a pull force. It allows the racquet to adjust itself with the level of power it is facing.
Power Grommets:
HEAD used enlarged power grommets instead of the standard ones. It helps to increase the string movement with increased power.

Conclusion:
So, above mentioned, all were about the HEAD Speed series. I have done a playtest of these racquets and have asked my fellows to tell me their thoughts. Overall, these racquets are extremely good at performance.
You can’t find any flaw so easily with the Speed series. It is to be expected as Novak recommended this series. The only drawback that I found in this series was that Speed TEAM and Speed TEAM L are not available in the market freely.
It is only temporary since these racquets were launched recently in 2022. Otherwise, in terms of feel, power, control, and stability, these racquets have done a wonderful job. Beginners, intermediate and advanced players always find themselves growing after such a challenge.
I hope this will help you somehow. If you have any questions, then please ask in the comment section.
